The best all natural homemade diaper cream
![]() |
Ever since I had my first born son 10 years ago,( that's crazy!) I have been making my own diaper cream which I call butt cream. It has been my go to gift for baby showers and is so easy to make!
I buy all the ingredients in bulk because I use them for so many other body products as well. Thankfully I had all the ingredients on hand and as soon as I saw my little guy's red bum I went to work concocting this amazing recipe. I have been using it on him for the past week and his rash is almost gone! Yay!
Here is what you will need:
Makes enough to fill one 4oz. jar.
Makes enough to fill one 4oz. jar.
1/3 C. Raw organic Shea butter- has the ability to speed healing of rashes, minor wounds and even eczema.
1/4 C. Extra Virgin Organic Coconut oil-repairs and softens skin.
1/2 oz. Beeswax- natural protectant that helps heal wounds and soothes itchy skin.
1 Tbs. Zinc Oxide Powder- naturally seals out wetness to keep skin dry and heals wound because of it's anti-inflammatory properties.
3 Tbs. Arrowroot powder- softens skin by enabling it to absorb moisture and is also a thickening agent.
1tsp. Almond Oil- reduces irritation and helps support healing process
Pot for boiling water
Glass bowl for melting ingredients
Container for diaper cream
Directions:
Fill pot 3/4 full with water and bring to medium heat. Find a glass bowl that fits over pot to make a double boiler. ( I have one that I only use for making body products) Place shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax in bowl. Stir until melted about 15-20 minutes over simmering water. Once melted set on counter or fridge to cool. Once cool add zinc oxide and almond oil. Add arrowroot one Tbs. at a time until well incorporated. It might not look like the cream is thickening but just give it a little time and it will thicken up nicely. Place in container of your choice and keep in cool dry place for safekeeping until a rash arises. I use these plastic containers for carrying in my purse. Baby food jars also work great.
As you can see this butt cream is jam packed with all the good stuff to bring relief and healing to your baby's sweet bottom. No need to buy a product filled with unnecessary chemicals when you can make your own diaper cream with all natural effective ingredients!
Now that you have all these great ingredients you can make some more of the body care products that I hope to share with you soon!

How exciting! Congratulations! I am pretty sure It's been a long time since I've used this with cloth diapers. But if my memory serves me well it should be fine. Maybe do a rest on one;)
DeleteGreat recipe! We have been battling a bad diaper rash in our house this week too. I will definitely give this a try! Thank you for sharing on Family Joy Blog Link-up Party! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHow quickly do you find this recipe works? My youngest had a horrific diaper rash as a newborn that I tried multiple creams on before one worked.
