My Kids Christmas Wish List

My kids have been making their own lists of what they would like for Christmas and don't hesitate to let my husband and I know on a daily basis. They all know that Santa isn't the one bringing presents but they do know the true story of Saint Nicolas and how the legend of Santa started.

As we focus more on celebrating Christ's birth and giving gifts because he was the greatest gift given to us, I find that Christmas is even more special and exciting than if we were glorifying just getting more stuff only because we are good. Christ came for those of us who are the worst among sinners to offer us the gift of salvation. I can't think of a better reason to celebrate and bless others this season!

I love getting and making my kids presents but I also want to instill in the them a heart to give. This year we participated in Angel Tree. It is a great opportunity for them to learn about others who don't always get what they want for Christmas and be able to bless them and give them a gift as coming from their parent who is incarcerated.

Some other great ministries are:
Samaritan's Purse/ Operation Christmas Child

Gospel for Asia- We started sponsoring a child in India about 5 years ago and are so thankful that we can have a small impact on a life in need.

Compassion- We have been sponsoring a child through Compassion since our first child was born. It has been such a blessing to us.

I really don't want to fill up our house with more stuff. So not only have I heard my kids requests out but I have tried to be mindful of the space in our house, how long the gifts will last and how they will benefit my children. I have already been going through their room and the house trying to purge as much as possible. Out with the old in with the new!

Now that I compiled my wish list I thought I would let you in on what the kids want for Christmas. I bought all these gifts through our Amazon Prime account. If you don't have one you need to get one asap. It is truly worth the $! It will not only save you time and your sanity but $ as well in the long run.

Israel Age 10
Israel is a truly gifted artist and has requested art supplies for Christmas to which I am more than happy to comply. He has been wanting some big canvas' and good oil paints and watercolors. I am excited to see what masterpieces he creates!

Oil Paints $24.21

Canvas $14.59

Oil Pastels $4.59

Watercolors  $21.19

Watercolor Pencils  $14.99

He has also been wanting a Drone and pesters us day and night about it. Since we got him the art supplies he decided to buy the drone himself with some money he has earned. He just couldn't wait till Christmas.

SYMA Drone $ 48.80

Judah age 8

All Judah wants for Christmas is a BB gun. Sound familiar? He actually had one but lost it when we were away on vacation so we are going to replace it for Christmas. I know he will be a happy boy when he opens it up and hopefully won't shoot his or anyone else's eye out.

Red Ryder BB Gun $42.33

Ellie age 5
Ellie probably has the biggest list of all. She keeps adding to it every day. It is hard for me to contain myself when buying her presents because she is just so much fun to buy things for. There are just so many cute girl things. Did I mention I have 4 boys;)
I love that she requested Legos. Legos are such a creative toy and though they break they can be put back together! Her brothers usually request them but this year she wanted some and of course they had to be "Frozen".

Frozen Lego Castle $35.49

As I have introduced Ellie into sewing and embroidering she has really taken to it and loves it. She is always asking me to help her sew or make something. I found this great book on stitching that has a ton of cute motifs to copy. I can't wait to sew these with her!  The book costs you what it would cost to buy one pattern! It's not prime but with shipping it comes out to about $12. I also bought her a few things to go with it to make a little sewing kit for her.
Doodle stitching book

Beginner Sewing Scissors $4.49

Sewing Hoop $1.74

Mini Stitch Cross Stitch Kit $2.79

Cross Stitch Needles $4.12

White Fabric( For embroidery) 2 Yards $8.63

Flower Fabric

Baby Doll $10.99

Ellie loves playing mommy. Unfortunately her babies have been through the ringer with 4 brothers. She has been asking for a new baby and I think it's time she had one that wasn't missing appendages and is covered in dirt.
Simeon age 4
Simeon is obsessed with all things Dinosaurs and Wild Kratts. He loves animals and would have loved  a pet chameleon for Christmas but we already have turtles and feel that is enough right now. This adventure set is perfect! I know he will love it. It was a bit more than I would have liked to spend but I know he and his brothers will get so much use out of it. And of course I had to get him a few dinosaurs.

Wild Kratts Adventure Set  Not Prime/$34 with shipping ( I just got an email that amazon is out of stock of this set but Toys R Us has it and it's cheaper;)

Wild Kratts Power Suit $24.95

Creature Power Figure Set $9.95

  Lego Dinosaurs $5.79

Luke age 2
Luke has always loved baseball. He doesn't have his own bat ball and glove, so I know he'll love these.

Baseball bat and ball $11.61

Baseball Glove $ 8.80

Gifts for everyone

The kids love playing games, though they do get carried away sometimes. We love playing altogether as a family... as long as Luke is asleep. These games look great for the kids to play on their own and together with Josh and I.  I love that they are educational also. I am excited to try them out! These will also make great gifts for our family members with big families. One gift for everyone!

Trivial Pursuit Family Edition $13.39

Brain Quest Smart Game

Scrabble Boggle $11.99

Apples to Apples  $14.99

Books
There is no such thing as too many books in my opinion. I think books are my favorite things to get my kids. I love watching them all huddled together engrossed in a good book. They love animal books and I am always impressed at all the facts they spout out about animals. Here are a few I am hoping to compile for them.
The Animal Book $13.99

The Biggest Story $13.33

The Children's Book of Virtues $14.00

Honestly my kids just love opening presents. I could wrap up a roll of toilet paper and they would be probably be happy. Last year the kids went around the house and wrapped up their own toys and gave them to each other. You would have thought they were brand new. Of course I know they will love these gifts and I am hoping that they will get lots of good fun out of them and remember the reason that we give each other gifts is because we were given the greatest gift of all!

Hope you find some inspiration if you are trying to figure out what to give your children, grandchildren or nieces and nephews!

  1. I love these Christmas lists! I want the Doodle Stitch book. That looks fun. Caleb also loves Wild Kratts and is getting one of the power suits. He and Simeon should get together and play "Wild Kratts" after Christmas! :)

  2. You know what- I think that is a darn good list. Just the kind of things I'd get for my kids. Things they can learn from, enjoy and get creative with. Fantastic.
Teaching them to not only think about receiving but giving as well is a very special thing. Thanks for sharing with TGI Saturdays today.
