Life Lately: A Day at the Beach

It has been raining for over two. weeks. straight. Picture if you will, 5 children stuck in the house with me. Yeah, they were pretty much driving me crazy. We had some good down moments; snuggling and playing games and I did manage to get a lot of school prep done.  Thankfully we were able to get out a few times during the mini flood, but we really are spoiled with the amount of sunshine we get here in Florida. Our city is known for having the sun shine more days than most anywhere else; so to not have the sun shine at least some part of the day is culture shock for us. Hallelujah, praise the Lord; the sun came out two days ago! We didn't waste any time taking advantage of it. If you are lacking some sun where you are, I hope these pictures shine some light on your day:)
The kids found some really cool sea life and shells. It is always a learning experience every time we come for the beach. I would be happy to lay out in the sun all day if I was by myself but these guys sure keep me busy. They found so many beautiful shells and creatures. They were so excited to find a baby octopus in one of the shells they found, It soon inked them as it let them know it was getting a little too much attention. I love days like these when we can learn, explore and get outside together...and get some sun.

Do you live near the beach?
Where do you like to go to get out with your kids and explore in nature?

  2. Oh what a lovely day!!! It looks absolutely beautiful. Which exactly what everyone needed after so many rainy days. I squealed when I saw them holding the octopus! My son would have been doing the same thing, but I still would have squealed, HA!

  6. Oh my gosh what a beautiful place to live! I'm so jealous that you get so much sun. I live next to the beach and we go out exploring all the time but it's only warm for a few months a year but even that's not consistent. That baby octopus is so cute. Nothing beats going outside, exploring and discovering new things on the beach. Thank you so much for linking this up to #whatevertheweather for the first time. I'm really glad to have discovered your lovely blog. x

  7. Ooh, I love that they found a baby octopus! How lucky to find it, poor little thing though, no wonder it inked them. A fantastic learning experience, they seem to have found quite a collection of shells and sea life there. I envy you living by the beach with lots of warm weather, Scotland is not the best for beach weather! Beautiful photos too, I especially love the one with the big kids all surrounding the bucket and littlest standing with his arm bands on looking away, very cute! I'm looking forward to our next beach visit now, although it will probably be a bit colder and wetter than yours. Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather :) x
