Life Lately in Pics: Tour of Shine Mural Festival

We live in such a cool city here in Florida. There are always new things going on. I have to admit that I haven't really taken advantage of all that our city has to offer do to the fact that sometimes it is just easier staying home then traipsing around town with my 5 children. Of course there are times when I would much rather get them out of the house. It just depends on where we are going. Lately I have been trying to get out more and explore the town with all the kids. I am so glad I have, because we have had so much fun!  And I have to say the kids have been great sports and have done me proud when are out in public.

At the beginning of September till the 12th, local artists and artists from all over the world turned our city into an open air museum. I had heard about it, but finally decided to take the kids downtown last weekend while Josh was away. We were truly amazed at the talent and artistry of these amazing murals. I couldn't believe the detail in these huge paintings. My son Israel is a very gifted artist and really enjoyed seeing these larger than life murals.

I am continually amazed how God has given gifts to people and how they can use them for his glory. I don't know these artist's backgrounds but I think it's inspiring that they used their talents to beautify our city.

Most of the murals were in a concentrated area but we drove around to see the rest of them. There must have been over 20 murals. We didn't even get to see them all. The kids had fun getting out and posing with them. Ellie really got into it and even told me what to do and how I should take pictures of her. After a while the kids got tired and we just looked at them from the car. Most of the murals were done by the time we went to look at them but we did catch one lone artist in action.

Some of the murals were "different" to say the least but all of them were true works of art on a grand scale. Hope you enjoyed the tour as much as we did!

Do you have a big art scene in your city?

Do you avoid getting out because it's often easier to stay home? Or do you prefer getting out of the house?

  3. What amazing pictures! It looks like a fantastic and veryu inspiring instalation! I love th picture of your children being 'scared' of the shark, it looks like you had a really fun day out. I can totally relate to the not always finding it easy to take the whole tribe out, I was told once by an older wiser mama not to beat myself up over it and do what I could, but to always remember that God makes a season for everything and that this time is fleeting! Many blessings to you and thankyou so much for linking yiop with me at #busydoinglife
