A Trip to Willow Tree

The air feels crisp and clean, the birds are singing their favorite songs, the light reflecting on the plants and trees is so bright and cheery... its spring! At least here in Florida, it might only last a few weeks before it gets hot and muggy again but I  am going to make the most of it; and that means gardening. I love digging into the earth and literally getting dirty. It just wouldn't be right if the palms of my hands didn't have any calluses or there wasn't  dirt beneath my fingernails.

Granted I usually only feel this way once a year but I enjoy it nonetheless. I would not consider myself a green thumb but more of a black and blue thumb...for all the bruises I have received. I have learned through much trial and error and mostly dead plants, what works best when and where. I am amazed I have any plants alive, but I think they have just been happy coincidence's and yes,  maybe even some prayer thrown in that has kept them surviving.

So I thought I would give it a go again this year and hope for the best. Even if they don't last as long as they should I enjoy putting them into the ground and feasting my eyes on their beauty, though short lived.
I have been waiting for spring to arrive to plant a little butterfly garden and saving up some gift cards I received for a local nursery, today was the day I finally got to use them.

Its a great place to take the kids. They love pulling each other and the plants in these cute wagons.

mmmm....Ellie can't resist smelling the flowers.

Their life size metal chickens and real ones are a big hit with the kids

We found a great assortment of flowers for our butterfly garden!

                           Pentas...Lantanas...Porter weed...

They were both mesmerized by the glowing water fountain and there is lots of  room to run around
You would never know you are in the middle of a big city

Ellie is anxious as am I to get these pretty babies into the ground and make the butterflies happy.
